Notice of end of process for making and determining victims’ claims

Below is a list of offenders who have been awarded compensation and the funds have now been paid out.

Notices will be removed after a period of 1 month.

Fereti (Freddy) Baice

Pursuant to subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (the Act), compensation awarded to Fereti (Freddy) Baice was paid to the Secretary for Justice and after making any deductions, the surplus remaining was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on 3 September 2020 on behalf of Fereti (Freddy) Baice to enable any victims of that offender to make claims against it.

From 11 September 2020, notice was given by publication in the New Zealand Gazette, on the website of the Ministry of Justice and on 12 September 2020 in the daily newspapers in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin of the sum of money paid into the Trust Account, and the entitlement of victims of the offender to claim against this money and the manner to do so.

The Secretary for Justice has now paid out all or the last of the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Fereti (Freddy) Baice in accordance with Subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.

Hukamalo Saiffiti aka Huka Siffiti

Pursuant to subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (the Act), compensation awarded to Hukamalo Saiffiti aka Huka Siffiti. The compensation was paid to the Secretary for Justice and after making any deductions, the surplus remaining was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on 10 September 2020 on behalf of Hukamalo Saiffiti aka Huka Siffiti to enable any victims of that offender to make claims against it.

From 26 September 2020, notice was given by publication in the New Zealand Gazette, on 25 September 2020 the website of the Ministry of Justice and in the daily newspapers in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin of the sum of money paid into the Trust Account, and the entitlement of victims of the offender to claim against this money and the manner to do so.

The Secretary for Justice has now paid out all or the last of the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Hukamalo Saiffiti aka Huka Siffiti in accordance with Subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.

Butler Taylor

Pursuant to subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (the Act), compensation awarded to Butler Taylor. The compensation was paid to the Secretary for Justice and after making any deductions, the surplus remaining was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on 27 August 2020 on behalf of Butler Taylor to enable any victims of that offender to make claims against it.

From 4 September 2020, notice was given by publication in the New Zealand Gazette, on the website of the Ministry of Justice and on 5 September 2020 in the daily newspapers in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin of the sum of money paid into the Trust Account, and the entitlement of victims of the offender to claim against this money and the manner to do so.

The Secretary for Justice has now paid out all or the last of the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Butler Taylor in accordance with Subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.

Pursuant to subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (the Act), compensation awarded to James Leonard Williams was paid to the Secretary for Justice and after making any deductions, the surplus remaining was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on 21 September 2020 on behalf of James Leonard Williams to enable any victims of that offender to make claims against it.

From 2 October 2020, notice was given by publication in the New Zealand Gazette, on the website of the Ministry of Justice and on 3 October 2020 in the daily newspapers in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin of the sum of money paid into the Trust Account, and the entitlement of victims of the offender to claim against this money and the manner to do so.

The Secretary for Justice has now paid out all or the last of the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of James Leonard Williams in accordance with Subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.
